Realizing wood-pasture movies and interviews – June

In the period of 27 mai to 6 June, 2023 the German and Romanian team realised the third fieldwork for realizing drone- and other movies and stakeholder interviews on Transylvanian wood-pastures, this time in the Eastern Carpathians. Eastern Carpathians is a bioculturally distinct region of Transylvania and Romania, the Székely land. The region is famous for its dense brown bear population, its species rich, traditionally managed hay meadows and the corncrake population, between many other natural beauties and treasures.

Thanks to the excellent weather conditions we managed to visit 17 sites. These sites are shown in the attached map (Figure 1). Furthermore, 10 persons were interviewed.

Figure 1. The area subjected to the June fieldtrips (red square) and the 17 sites documented by movies (including drone filming) and pictures. Characteristic biocultural features as well as the overall physiognomy of the systems were captured.

With this German-Romanian field trip, the number of Transylvanian wood-pasture sites about which drone movies associated with photo documentations (made under the same methodological framework) were made reaches 36  while the number of persons interviewed and filmed to be shown on our YouTube channel is 31 (excepting the team members).

Two movies were already edited and posted on our YouTube channel: one about three wood-pastures and one interview with Tibor Hartel where he shares the fieldtrip experience.
