As part of Workpackage 3, on April 3, 2023, students from Babeș-Bolyai University, Faculty of Science and Environmental Engineering from Romania, led by Tibor Hartel, participated in an activity to restore the wood-pasture in Viscri, where :
✔️ Oaks were planted and fenced;
✔️ The young oaks were released from the bushes.
Restoration of tree pastures is important because it increases:
📍 Resilience of pastures to climate change;
📍 Carbon sequestration capacity of pastures;
📍 The natural, cultural and economic value of pastures.
The activity was organized in partnership with the Viscri-Weisskirch Agro-Eco Association.
️ ️ Shrubs, which were going to be cut anyway, were reused to protect young oaks and to provide habitat for different species.
