The first film on our new Youtube channel has now been released. It is part of a series in which an overview of the location and structure of all the wood-pastures we have visited will be given. We start with the 133-hectare “Breite” wood-pasture. It is located near Sighisoara and can be considered as a cultural-historical-ecological extension of the historical town. Most of the oaks in this tree pasture are over 200 years old, the oldest exceeding 500 years. In terms of biodiversity, the “Breite” is one of the best documented wood-pastures in Transylvania: over 400 species of vascular plants, over 100 species of fungi, over 250 species of butterflies, 40 species of beetles, 27 species of nesting birds and 38 species of mammals (including Gray Wolf and Brown Bear).
